PPGI/PPGL

PPGI is short for Pre-painted galvanized steel coils, or coated steel, is steel that has had paint applied to one or both sides via a continuous coil coating process to produce uniformity in the paint finish. The steel can be coated with different substances:

• ✔ Adhesives: used mainly in automotive transmission gaskets
• ✔ Polymer Coatings: locomotive engine valve covers

The coating thickness is closely monitored on both top and bottom surfaces of the steel. We coat the coils based on our customer’s paint spec.  As a pre-painted steel coil supplier, you can come to us with the paint and vendor spec you need and we’ll take it from there.

There are specific qualities of pre-painted & coated steel that make it particularly appealing to customers. First, Chesterfield’s services eliminate the need for you to perform in-house painting, saving you money on equipment maintenance costs, yield loss, and more. Second, it is cheaper to paint by the foot rather than by the part. Additionally, many parts are too big to be painted after they are made.
